With a massive thanks to all of our land owners and stakeholders for working with us, we can now announce that The Guzzler Ultra presented by MINI Countryman will take place on 7th – 8th November.

With nearly 800 of you legends already registered, we were getting so excited for July and the ball was well and truly rolling towards this epic event. We know Oct/Nov is shaping up to be a busy time of year and that the dates won’t work for everyone but we’re crossing our fingers and toes that many of you will be able to reschedule with us. We’ve also heard a few rumblings that runners who couldn’t make the July date are keen for Nov - we’d love to have you along!

There’s lots to take into account, not least the increased heat and the possibility that COVID-19 is still cramping our style, but we’ll work closely with our stakeholders and address all of this in our continued planning. An email will come out to all of the registered runners tomorrow with details about what your options are and a list of FAQs. It’s been a HUGE few weeks for us at The Trail Co., as it has been for many of you too. We know you might have lots of questions so we just ask if you could please hold on to them until after tomorrow’s email, as we’ve tried to address a number of potential queries in there.

Following discussions with various stakeholders over the last couple of days, we’ve made the very difficult decision to postpone this year’s running of The Guzzler to early November 2020. Visit our website to read the full update (link in bio). .
While there is a possibility that we could have gone ahead with a modified or reduced event in July, we're told the forecast is that some sort of restrictions which would make our event untenable could remain in place for up to 6 months. This would see us all spending the next few months in limbo and still be at risk of a last minute cancellation.

By moving to this new date now, we’re aiming to give our runners as much certainty as we can hope for in the current state of the world. .
Please know that this is not a decision we’ve taken lightly and that you, our Guzzlers, have been at the forefront of all of our considerations. Based on all of the information we currently have available, this feels like the best way to ensure most of you get to stand on the start line with us.

Like you, we were getting very excited for July so we intend to also run a virtual event on our original dates to test your mettle and help keep everyone’s spirits up at a time when it feels like all of our favourite things are cancelled. We’ll share more details about this asap and hope it can provide a bit of fun and friendly competition until ‘real’ events are back up and running (yep, pun definitely intended). .
Please bear with us while we work through the mammoth logistics of moving an event this size. If you’re registered, keep an eye out for an email from us which will tell you what to do next. No doubt there’ll be lots of questions but if you’re able to hold on until after you’ve read through that info, hopefully we can clear up a lot queries all at once. With nearly 800 people registered across the three events, anything we can do to streamline our communications will be a massive help to us and allow us to dive back into planning sooner.

We’re really hopeful that many of you will still be able to join us and in the meantime, that you’re all staying healthy and keeping your chins up.

After today's updated government recommendations to cancel large public gatherings, we know there is a lot of conversation about the likelihood of many ultra trail events going ahead in 2020.

With The Guzzler still sitting 19 weeks out, and considering that safety recommendations continue to evolve, we don't expect today's status to be the one we'll be dealing with come July. With this in mind, we'd like to advise we are currently progressing towards hosting The Guzzler as normal.
While our energy and sense of fun is HUGE, we are also fortunate to be relatively small and flexible. So while we'll cross our fingers for life to return to normal, we'll also be planning cunning ways to bring you an event, should the current heightened medical status stay the same or become less desirable.
In the meantime, in these uncertain times, keep running in the trees as much as you can. It can only by good for the lungs and the soul 🌳
